5Super Printer!
By A Customer
The Canon i250 is marvelous. My old HP died, and I wanted an inexpensive printer now because I expected at a later date to buy a new computer and a higher tech printer. Now I need neither. In other words, the Canon i250 allows me to print wonderfully what I thought only higher tech/higher priced printers would! I've been able to print greeting cards, as well as photos and crisply clear documents. The i250 only takes seconds to warm up, and each print job is done quickly and beautifully. This printer allows one to choose a variety of print qualities and paper types to ensure the best print for each job. Set up was super easy, as is the printer's use. And noise? It's not excessive; I never even give it a second thought. Along with superb performance and inexpensive price, another great thing about the i250 is that I can buy both a black and a color refill cartridge for it for less than I'd pay for one HP cartridge. What a super printer bargain!

5Superbly Well-Rounded & Affordable. Oh, and Mac-compliant!
By Michele Askew
Where do I start? This little bugger is AMAZING! I actually bought this for my son, because he got an iMac (being the Apple freak he is), and his printer was ailing. So I told him if he found one under $75 I'd get it. He did. He found the Canon i250.
This little guy is so good! The quality is exceptional (and beautiful w/ Mac OS X font-handling.) and he can use it for everything, even printing photos. Now, I don't recommend it for exclusively photos, but for the occasional one, it's fine. Also, refills won't break the bank with about $7 and $15 respectively. Printing time is short; very efficient and quick. Also, it comes with many features that are considered as 'extras' with the others HE looked at. The only problem is it doesn't come with a USB cable, and that's all it's compatible with. But that's OK... I found a Belkin for about $5. I would recommend this to anyone, especially for document designers and offices for its 'bang for the buck'. Amzing features, reliability, efficiency/speed, and quality wrapped in a (very) tiny (perfect for portability.) package that won't break the bank.

5Perfect inexpensive ink-jet
By A Customer
Considering this printer costs less than the ink for most other ink-jet printers, it has far exceeded my expectations. It prints quickly and has accurate color, what more can you ask from a $50 printer? Another reviewer mentioned that it does not work with Mac OS 10.3 (Panther), they are wrong. There is a patch you can download and install at: [...] which makes it work perfectly in Panther. Somebody else complained about it not including a USB cable, which it doesn't, as mentioned in the technical specs page. This makes it no different from any other USB printer sold in the last 3 years, so be sure to purchase a USB cable. If you are looking for a cheap no-frills printer that probably costs less than the ink for other printers, I highly reccomend this printer!

5Absolutely Amazing Printer
By But I'm feeling much better now...
The quality of the prints out of this printer is fantastic. Rich blacks, even grey tones, even color gradations with no banding, fine details, everything I've thrown at this printer it has done well!

I've been looking at pigment printers for a while now. My biggest motivation has been that when visiting galleries and art shows notice is being given to prospective purchasers that the prints have been made with archival pigment inks. My work has risen to that level, and though it may be fine to hang a print on my own wall and reprint it as needed, if somebody is going to pay good money for a print they want it to last. I've sent a lot of work out to be printed, but sometimes the quality has to suffer a bit when I can't crop the print exactly as desired, the brightness and contrast are a little off, or the colors are just not quite what I envisioned, this printer solves all of those problems.

I've spent two full days printing on a variety of media; glossy, lustre, photo rag, and metallic and they all look marvelous. It was very easy to get exactly the looks I wanted with little fiddling as the colors match like I haven't seen before, and I was using custom created profiles for each paper type with my Canon Pro 9000 Mark II. That printer is quite good, but this one blows it away. I've never seen my B&W prints look so good outside of a darkroom, subtle small differences in clouds, for example, come out just perfect, and black is really black.

To the details: It took me about two hours total to set up the printer and start using it. You really need help to lift this monster, it weighs about 60 pounds. I just glanced at the getting started instructions, everything is pretty straight forward, pull off all of the orange tape strips that secure everything, install the twelve ink tanks, and the print head. Turn it on and it primes the head, then just hook up the USB cable and print. I also installed the software that came with the printer, found out later that it is really not necessary, I'm just printing through Photoshop CS6. The driver is much improved from the version I have been using, it now correctly allows you to choose color matching and media types. I'm using OSX Lion by the way. I did try the print software that came with the printer, I can see how it might be useful for those without PS, it allows for a lot of the same options, but will not print from a PSD file, so it has to be saved as a JPEG first. It also has some layout functions that some people may find useful, I tend to just print one print per page. One thing that I haven't had to do yet is to print a clear coat over sections of a print or even over the whole print, there are options to do that, but as hard as I've looked, I can't see any unevenness or bronzing on my prints.

The printer takes about 8 minutes to print a 13"X19" borderless print, 6-1/2 for an 11"X14". Part of that may be the slow USB2 connection, I have yet to try the Ethernet connection. As far as ink usage goes, about 25% of the ink tanks are used to prime the print head. I've printed about 25 4X6, 10 5X7, 10 8X10, 5 11X14, and 5 13X19 prints since then and the ink levels do not seem to have dropped any further. The ink cartridges are unique, they look like an 8-track tape that plug into the front of the printer, with a verification light to tell you the right one is in the right spot. I don't see how you could possibly refill them. When I was printing large quantities of signs and posters I refilled cartridges as a normal course, since I've transitioned to quality over quantity I've just stuck with Canon ink and paper, with the exception of RedRiver metallic paper and Epson Luster paper. I never really got the quality I was looking for with third party ink, too much variance between suppliers and even from batches from the same supplier. (I spent a lot of time creating profiles using Spyder Print.) After I run through some ink tanks I'll update this review to try and express some kind of idea of print cost. One thing I do to mitigate that is to print on 4X6 until I get the brightness and color balance for the environment right, and then go ahead and print bigger sizes.

This is the fourth Canon printer I've owned in the past 10 years. I tried a couple of other brands, but was really put off by inaccurate and finicky paper handling and the awful problem of clogged pint heads. In all fairness, I destroyed 2 of the printers using them in a high volume fashion with cheap ink. The Pro 9000 Mark II I've had for 2-1/2 years now with no problems, and if anything this one is made even better, it is solid throughout.

I can really see this printer improving my work, to the point where I'm now going to be able to confidently sell prints, no longer being at the mercy of print labs in achieving a perfect finished product. Yes, the printer is expensive, too expensive for most people's daily work. However, if you really want prints you can sell, display in galleries and art fairs, and even in local establishments, the expense is more of an investment, well worth the money.

Update 7/4/2012 - I went ahead and switched the printer to an ethernet cable connected to a router. at the same time I also installed the printer on a Win7 computer with no problems. Printing takes significantly longer on my Mac, an 11X14 went up from 6-1/2 minutes to 8-1/2 minutes due to spooling. I also lost access to the printer utility so I can no longer check ink levels, for one thing. Speaking of which, I hadn't used the printer for a couple of days, and when I turned it on it went through an ink readying routine. The level of the Grey, Matte Black, and Chroma Optimizer tanks now read 50% used instead of 25% used as stated above. I now also know why I haven't noticed the need to use clear coat (chroma optimizer), I had it set to AUTO when I installed the printer. There does not seem to be any way to turn it off. I suppose I could make a tiny manual mask in a corner. At $35 a cartridge for clear coat I don't want to be using it if I don't have to.

On the bright side, I was showing off some prints and sold a 13X19 metallic without trying, they really are breathtaking. I guess I'll have to order a set of ink tanks and a bunch of paper and re-print a lot of my old shots.

Update 7/7/2012 - This is downright alarming! After printing about 6 more large prints (11X14 and 13X19) I checked the ink levels this morning and now all of the cartridges show 50%. Ordering ink for sure right now.

Update 9/30/2012 - This is sickening. I haven't used the printer hardly at all since my last update, turned it on and it went through another 'prime' cycle. Now one cartridge is completely empty, 9 others are down to low with warnings, and 2 are at 25%. Just ordered over $400 worth of ink. Basically, the printer ate up over $150 of ink just sitting there looking pretty. If I'm going to continue to use it, I'll have to batch up prints to be made and do them all at once. By the way, contrary to what was mentioned elsewhere, the cartridges that ship with the printer are full cartridges, not 'starter' ones, so that is not the problem.

Update 2/13/13 - It seems that turning the printer on about once a week and printing out a test sheet mitigates the huge sucking up of ink when I leave the printer unused for a while. Of course, I've gone back to using my Pro 9000II dye based printer quite a bit as well. Most of my photography is very vibrant, a lot of HDR, and it just pops a little better with dye based vs. pigment based ink. I've also noticed that few papers have profiles for the Pro-1, although it seems that the standard Canon profiles seem to work fine on a variety of papers.

5Amazing color (and black and white)
By Stephen M. Lerch
This printer is an amazing piece of kit. If you have the money and are debating between this and the Pro 9500 mkII, what you need to decide is how important black and white photography is for you. From the 9500 mkII, you'll get mostly similar results (Canon claims better skin tones from the Pro-1 as well) from all but the black and white. If black and white is what you print most, the question is simple... get the Pro 1. Of course, the extra inks also help with color as well, but the difference will mostly be in the B&W arena. Comparing the prices, you may actually be better off over all to purchase the Pro 1 (based on MSRP)

Setup -

This printer is MASSIVE. Before you buy, ensure you have somewhere to place a 27" x 9.5" x 18.5" printer. And because the paper is rear fed, you will need some extra breathing room in the back of the printer as well.
This printer doesn't just have a large footprint, it's also heavy. Shipping weight is 75 pounds and full loaded, removed from the shipping materials, you're still looking at 68-70 pounds. Ensure the table you set this on will handle it.

In regards to actual configuration, setup is a snap. It just takes a long time, so be prepared to consume an hour or more of time unboxing, installing cartridges and print head and then installing the printer software.
Make sure you have a friend or helper to remove this from the box. It's not too heavy for one person, but the length and overall size makes it difficult for a single person.

Ensure you follow the directions for installing the cartridges. It's pretty simple, but they have some guidelines you will want to follow, such as not touching the contacts and shaking the tanks.

The other piece to be careful with is the print head. They really go out of their way to make sure you know not to bump it, shake it or touch the contacts. They are also very specific about not shaking it or any other jarring type actions. This is understandable since this is where the magic is performed.

Installing the software, which requires a fair amount of space (500-700 MB), takes time but is also fairly simple. Next. Next. Next. Done.

Print Quality -

I can only compare to a Canon Pixma MP990 for quality as it is the only Canon printer I own. Compared to the top end consumer model from 2-3 years ago (2010 model), this printer is much higher quality and even with the same photos and photo paper (Pro Platinum and Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss), the results are much closer, I would say nearly exact, to what I see on my calibrated monitor. I might try to calibrate both printers, though I don't own such a device at this time so I cannot compare them side by side with calibration.

Other Notes -

The other very important thing to remember is that the ink for this printer is quite expensive. For a full set of ink, you are looking at an MSRP of about $330. That might seem over inflated given that a full set for the 9500 runs around $130-$150. So this one is more than double that price. The thing you have to keep in mind is that the $330 MSRP involves 4 extra tanks AND the size on these new cartridges is said to be 150% larger, meaning more prints per cartridge, which means it's probably a little BETTER in pricing for the equivalent Pro 9500 mkII.
The other thing to know is that out of the box, the printer will consumer roughly 25% of the ink for print head priming and printer alignment. There isn't anything you can do to fix this, so if you plan to print a lot, you might want to purchase an extra set, just in case.

Pros:
Print lab quality prints
Fantastic B&W performance
Out of box color very closely matches calibrated screen

Cons:
Ink price seems expensive (though not too bad when you consider how much ink you are buying)
Big and heavy (again, you have to know what you are buying)

In conclusion, if you can afford this printer and the ink, I do not believe you will be disappointed. Canon support is nothing short of extremely helpful. I haven't used them on this printer, as I've only had it a week or so, but past experience with them has left me appreciating their support.
Worth the money for those with the need.

UPDATE Nov 5, 2012- I am now at a point that I have to start buying ink tanks for this printer. The problem is, they are running out in 1 to 3 tank increments. This means that I can't print right now because 1 tank is showing empty. I had 3 I needed to order on Friday. I replaced those, to be greeted with needing this one that's out now, which tells me that when this new one shows up, I'l likely need 2-3 more. I think I may just order them all now and say forget it, just so I can get back to printing. These are still the same tanks from the initial printer setup, and according to Canon they won't last long because they prime the printer using this ink. I've gotten probably 30 prints out of it total. Of course, several of those were on 13x19 prints. If I only get 30 prints per tank set, I am definitely getting rid of this printer, despite the amazing results. It would prove way too expensive.

And for the record, I print at least once a week to try and keep the printer from purging ink (supposedly you need to print every once in a while, unlike how on previous printers I sometimes went months without printing).

Will keep everyone updated.

5Incredible Printer!
By Paul M. Provencher
This is the printer I wanted to get when I bought my PIXMA Pro 9000 Mk II. The reason is because it has several shades of gray ink that help to make black and white prints the best they can be. There are 12 inks in this printer. Five shades of black to gray (matte black, photo black, dark grey, grey, light grey); cyan and light cyan; magenta and light magenta; yellow and red; and a Chroma Optimizer.

If you want to print black and white prints, and you're not going to do it the analog way (dark-room), then this in probably the printer you want.

The set-up was so easy that it was simple. I read through the "Getting Started" guide once, followed the directions verbatim, and about an hour later my printer was installed and ready to print. There are several programs that get installed and requires almost 600MB of space on the hard drive. At one time that would be a formidable space requirement, but these days that's half a GB on drives that support 100's of GB.

You can set the printer up to use USB or Ethernet connected to a switch/router. I used USB because I only print from one computer. You simply chose your connection method when you go through the set-up process.

This printer is HUGE - 27" x 9.5" x 18.5" and weighs about 75 pounds. I have a table that I used for my PIXMA Pro 9000 Mark II. Fortunately this printer fits on the table. It is very ergonomic - the ink cartridges are front-loading (you have to have the printer on to open up the covers) - and each ink cartridge has a light to show that the cartridge is correctly inserted. The printer shows you how much ink you have so you can order new ink and avoid running out. But of course you have to order it before you need it!

It prints 13" x 19" inch prints. The prints are incredible. It's like printing from a commercial lab. I know - I used to work in a commercial lab (color and black & white). I like Canon Pro Platinum. Very glossy and very sharp results. I had no problem printing PSD files from PhotoShop. No problem at all. It will take other brands of paper and you can get other drivers to work with other papers. This is a true beast of a printer. I am very happy with this device. No more dark-room printing for me!

The price is way up there, but if you are trying to make professional prints, you will recoup your money (if you charge the right price for prints you make). Canon says prints in albums will last 200 years; prints on the wall will last 70 years. Sounds reasonable - independent testers came up with these results so in my mind it's not marketing hype.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this printer!

5Great printer for home or students
By M. Ryan
I recently purchased the Canon i560s printer in September of 2003. The Canon uses 4 ink tanks. As the inks are used up you only need to replace the color that is empty. This is much nicer than many other manufactures' setup where the cyan, magenta, and yellow tanks are combined into one print cartridge. The Canon replacement cartridges are also about half to a third (list price) as expensive as other brands. This could lead to a significant savings over the years and was, in fact, the primary reason I chose this printer.

While the specifications on Canon's web site for this printer list it as having no USB cable included, my particular model did come with a 5 foot USB 2.0 cable. Perhaps that is what distinguishes the "i560" from the "i560s". At any rate, the inclusion of the cable saved me a few dollars and the trouble of getting another cable.

The setup of this printer was a no-brainer. Just had to remove the packing material, install the print head and ink tanks, then install the driver. There is a "quick start" sheet that guides you through all this. I'd expect the average user to be up and printing in about 15 minutes.

The print quality is very good for text and excellent for photographs. Especially good photographs can be produced on the included sample pack (5 sheets) of 4" x 6" Photo Paper Plus Glossy. I would rate the quality of a photo print on par with the pictures you get back with regular film developing. The Photo Paper Plus even has about the same thickness and consistency as that from a film developer. If you take the output from this printer and drop it on the floor a few times, bend it, and wrinkle it slightly, it will be just like pictures coming back from bulk developers. It takes less than a minute (50 seconds in high quality mode) to print a 4x6 print. The colors are as good as I've seen on a 4-color printer and nearly as good as high-end 6-color inkjets. You have the option of borderless printing on any size stock, up to 8.5" x 11"

For day to day printing, back off the printer setting from high quality to either standard or draft. The latter modes print much faster. The draft mode quality is certainly decent enough for printing out email and the like. You'll want to switch to at least "standard" mode for printing out your resume or term papers. I tested a 30 page draft mode gray scale (black only) document and printed it with the following results: Time to start printing first page, 20 seconds. Time to print all 30 pages: 10 minutes, about 20 seconds per page. NOTE: the source for this document included only scanned 8.5" x 11" B/W images on each page, total file size 253MB.

There is a status indicator (in the printer queue status) that shows about how much ink is available for each color, so you'll know in advance when you'll need more. In the print driver you have the ability to set the printer to automatically shut off after several minutes of inactivity (user settable) and auto power on when you print again. There is a USB port on the front of the printer to directly print from supported digital cameras - Canon Bubble Jet Direct compatibles only. This would be handy if you want to print out a quick snapshot without bothering to boot your computer first.

I've seen comments in other reviews that the paper trays seem flimsy. I believe they will hold up fine if not subjected to undo abuse.

This printer was just released so it remains to be seen how it hold up long term. However, it basically is the same as the Canon i550, but faster. I would expect it to hold up as well as the i550. From what I've seen, the i560 is about 30% more expensive than the i550. For that relatively small amount, the i560 is a good investment considering its faster print speed.

Update:

After a few weeks of use, I have the following comments to add:

Printing a test document that is about half text, half color screen shots, 102 letter size pages took 16 minutes 20 seconds in draft mode. Average speed: 9.6 seconds / page. Text looked fine, graphics are quite readable, but solid colors have a noticeable screen pattern to them. Same document in standard mode took 32 minutes. Average speed: 18.8 seconds / page. Text was very good and somewhat better than draft mode. Graphics were noticeably much sharper. Printing a 8 x 10 inch color photo on plain paper gave the following results: Draft mode 18 seconds, output looks a bit fuzzy (comparable to inkjet's best modes a couple of years ago) also some slight banding. Color is a bit weak, but plenty good for school projects for example. Standard mode took 35 seconds, and was again much better than draft mode. Standard mode skin tones are a bit pink. High Quality mode takes 1 minute 34 seconds per 8 x 10 print. Again, this Canon excels at printing photographs and even on plain paper the output is quite good. By printing on special glossy photo paper, it is as good as I've seen from a four-color printer. Plain paper tends to curl when using it to print photographs.

Overall I'm still very pleased with this printer. Though (as with virtually all printers) the average print speed is much slower than claimed on the box, it's pretty fast for an inkjet. (I was able to get about 20 b/w pages per minute in "custom 5" mode, but the print quality suffers greatly.) For day-to-day printing, I leave the printer in draft mode for speed and ink savings. The above-mentioned 102-page document looked good enough in draft mode for use and as a bonus, draft mode is basically twice as fast as standard mode. I've currently printed a bit over 500 pages (about 20 were large 8x10 inch photographs). When printing photographs, the special photo paper is expensive, but well worth it. The three ink tanks for color are still about half full, the black is just about ready to be replaced. Also, I mentioned above that Canon includes a printer monitor that has a graphic display of the remaining ink for each color. Unfortunately, I believed this was how it worked. In reality, it shows all the inks full until one of the ink tanks is nearly spent, then displays that ink as low level. Upon more closely checking the documentation, it is mentioned that the display will only show when the ink is at a low level.

5Economical to use
By citan-uzuki
I bought this printer back in October of 2003. So far, this Canon has proven itself to be very fast, reliable, and economical. There is an option to use "draft" mode for the purpose of conserving ink. This is a great feature to have if you print a lot of text, like I do. The black ink cartridge is also relatively inexpensive. I bought this particular printer because I print a lot of text. My main criteria was keeping the cost per page as low as possible. I rarely print photos, but the few that I have printed on Canon's paper looked very nice.

I like the design of the printer. You can fold the paper holder in the back forward and it will act as a dust cover to keep the inside of the printer clean. You can also close the front of the printer as an added measure to keep the inside free of dust. The i560 is a little bit more expensive than comparable printers from other brands. However, I believe that the lower cost per page will more than make up for it in the long run. There are individual ink cartridges. And the ink cartridges do not have a smart chip built into them. It might be possible, although I have not tried it, to refill the cartridges yourself if you can find the right ink. However, I think the cost of the ink cartridges for this particular printer is low enough that I would recommend buying only the genuine Canon ink, that way you can eliminate most of the problems that people experience with generic or refilled ink cartridges. I was told that a lot of problems that people have with their ink jets are due to using generic or refilled ink cartridges.

5BEST FULL-FEATURED COLOR INKJET. PERIOD.
By Shashank Tripathi
If you are looking for a desktop printer (not the portable ones such as Canon's i70) then you just cannot get better than this. I include Epson's PhotoPlus 2200 and HP's PhotoSmart 7960, both of which are great printers but Canon wins hands-down in terms of ink longevity, photo quality (on professional photo paper,) and price (you can get deals for 85 USD for instance.)

The printer flies with B&W text, e.g., while printing websites off the web browser. The setup is breezy and hassle-free. With PictBridge built in, will connect directly to your digicam for printing on paper -- no need to transfer the file to your computer, then print from Adobe Photoshop etc.

For a home printer, given that the Epson, the HP and Canon are more or less the same in picture quality, the most important thing I have realized is that I need to keep ink cartidge replacements in check. Canon blows its competition out of the water in this respect.

And that's for the maintenance costs. Even for the upfront costs, this printer is unmatched either by Epson's 2200 or HP's 7960.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a full-featured home printer.

5A Fabulous Printer
By Robert Nichols
My new Pixma Pro9000 is astoundingly good. I have used Epson photo printers for about 10 years and was reasonably content with the results, although I was somewhat bothered by the slowness and never able to perfectly match monitor and print despite calibrating with a Pantone ColorVision Spyder2. Now, for the first time my print output is exactly like what I see on screen. The speed of the printer is amazing - a 4x6 on highest quality takes a bit over a minute and less than a minute on standard quality. Larger sizes also print five or six times as fast as my Epson did. The output quality on Canon Photo Paper Pro Super High Gloss is just beautiful - wonderfully deep and rich colors essentially indistinguishable from those on the monitor screen.

The previous poster complained about the included software Easy PhotoPrint, but this application is not meant for sophisticated users. Also supplied with the printer is a plug-in for Photoshop, Easy Photoprint Pro, which allows complete control over the printing process, as does, of course, Photoshop itself. I was surprised to see that the print output when I let the printer driver manage the color handling in Photoshop was equal or superior to that obtained when I used ICC profiles and let Photoshop do the color handling.

5A Superb product
By Dr. Arthur Gleiner
This printer is a first rate piece of technology. Everything from its paper handling to its print quality to the software utilities that accompany it are excellent. It has greatly exceeded my expectations and has far outperformed other printers I have owned over the past 15 years.

I have had some prints done by a professional lab for comparison purposes. The Canon is indistinguishable in its quality. Once it is properly set up, you get a very accurate transfer of color and luminence from screen to paper - a feat that has been close to impossible with other printers I have used. The fact that you can accurately edit a picture and predict the appearance of the print so reliably saves you a tremendous amount of time and money.

The print drivers that Canon includes are well documented, but you must take some time to read and understang the process of using them to get the best results. Once you have yours properly set up, you will quickly become addicted to the results.

Its paper handling is especially noteworthy. Heavy stock that requires hand feeding and constant supervision with other printers can be batch loaded and print flawlessly with the Canon. If you value your time and your sanity, you will appreciate what this means.

Worth every penny!

5Fantastic quality, and incredible speed.
By Jim Krupnik
This is just a quick review, as most has already been said about this printer. I have used it for about a month now, and I am still stunned by the quality of print that comes from this machine. I have had many printers over the years, and still have a few A4 printers. I use my printers for both personal, and professional print work.

This printer is very fast when printing in color. Considering the range of colors, and the accuracy it delivers time after time, I find it hard to believe that a printer at this price can spit out a full 13x19 lab quality print in about 1 min, 20 sec. It will print a similar 8x10 in about 30 sec. Wow....

The color is stunning, and better than a commercial lab, as you can tune your print to exactly produce the result you want, and deliver the finished product within minutes. It's an entirely new level of home/studio photo printing.

Pigment based printing has become the rage lately, as it has great colorfastness over time. Canon offers a pigment based printer in this class as well, but it does have a serious cost penalty. The truth is, the new dye based inks used in the 9000 are solid for over 100 years in storage, and over 30 years on display. That beats old fashioned "chrome" prints to near death. The new dyes also offer beautiful "visual impact" that many pigment printers still lack. Dark shadow areas remain clean as well, and do not suffer from "brassing" where pigment piles up, and changes the sheen of the paper surface.

It's the bargain of the century that delivers awesome images on a wide variety of paper types. The driver/sofware suite is very well done, and offers many choices. You don't have to work around it. You simply work with it, and get a big smile every time.

The downside is that if you print lots of large B&W prints, there are better choices out there. The 9000 does a splendid job of printing B&W, but it takes a LONG time to print a 13x19 image. I'm talking about 16 minutes..... Monochrome isn't so bad in time, and delivers very nice images, but if you are looking for true B&W prints that will stun viewers, you have to be patient when printing them.

That's OK for me, as I only print fine quality B&W every now and then. The speed of full color printing on the 9000 is more important to me overall.

There it is. The 9000 is a great printing tool, at an affordable price point.
