RAM Upgrade

Love the printer it works well would buy again. I did run into an issue printing large page count PDF files with the PCL driver. It would tell me I was out of memory. After researching RAM upgrades for this unit I found that Konica really believes in the RAM chip they sell at about $275 for 256 MB. Just so you know I stuck a 512 MB random notebook RAM module I had laying around and it works. Saved myself a bunch of money and now it reads 384 MB and I do not have any problems printing anymore.

No more paper jams

I love this laser printer. I replaced a cheaper Brother HL 2270DW printer with this one, as the Brother printer always had paper jams (like every 10th page).
This printer is faster, prints better quality and, even more important, has no more paper jams.
And Konica Minolta shows Brother how to build an easy wifi solution for printers. It took me less than a minute to set up wifi for all my computers with this printer. Guess what, with the Brother printer I gave up to set up wireless internet after 2 hours. It was that difficult with Brother, and so much easier with this printer.
Get this printer, if you would like a headache free printing experience. The only downside is that it is bigger than the old Brother printer, but space was not an issue for me.

Large and heavy, good tech help from Konica Minolta

I bought this because it had a decent sized 2nd tray included in the basic model, with main tray holding a full ream of paper. I print large volume documents in both legal and letter size. I didn't buy any extra features, I just wanted a heavy duty printer for 1 sided b/w printing.
It's more massive than expected. Needs 2 people to move it any distance. At least I know it won't be easy to rip off from my work office. I also had a hard time getting the software loaded and configured; the disk that came with it was unreadable so I had to download the driver software. Written documentation was scarce and it's an older model. Not truly plug and play.
I thought I'd never get it working right but then took a chance calling Konica Minolta. I have to say that the tech support was excellent...live people who were able to help me configure the software correctly and understood the issues I was having. Of course you have to wait on hold for a bit of time, but it was worth the wait. I kept working with them until we got it resolved.
The quality of the b/w print is great and it's low cost per page. I still have a few bugs with paper sizing but nothing worth calling tech support...I can override easily using the buttons on the printer. I seem to be getting a lot of "odd size" paper readings when I select PDFs to automatically detect size; so it stops the printing to ask what to do. I print both legal and letter sized mixed documents and it selects the right paper except when the conflict occurs and it doesn't recognize the paper size. I believe this has to do more with the way the documents were scanned versus what the printer is doing. It's also a little slower ppm than I expected but again, nothing bad.
so a three star for the product and a five star for Konica Minolta's tech support, this gets a 4 star overall and I'm not sorry I bought it. It was on sale and worth what I paid for it.
