wasted time & money!

When I purchased this printer, I wasn't aware it didn't come with the ink cartridges. I thought the $19.99 price was too unbelievable. I was right! At an office supply store the ink was running for close to $100.00 for both black and colored. I wanted to return the printer but was asked to contact the supplier. The supplier offered to work out a resonable price for the ink. I was told I could get the ink from them for $10.00 plus shipping. So I agreed to do that. The shipping was more for the 2 little cartridges than for the entire printer itself. Then I found the printer could not be installed, so I called the company leaving a message. I also emailed them as well asking for help, but have never heard back from them either way. I ended up spending $40.00 for a $19.99 printer that I have no use for. I sold the printer to someone who thought they might have more success with it! Good Luck!

good for the money

This is an older model,unused and new,but older.
I had an earlier version and a newer version,all three look almost identical.
The earlier Z600 worked good for 3 years before the ink printhead(s) got clogged up,or something.The same thing happened after 3 years to my Z645...Ink gets dried out and clogs over time.
If this Z615 lasts 3 years I'll be happy.For the price,it amounts to just $13 per year,$1.08 per month...The ink will cost a lot more than that over 3 years...All the other printers received more mixed reviews,so I stuck with the devil I know.
Also,my new Z615 DID INCLUDE BOTH B&W AND COLOR INK CARTRIDGES.
Ask seller to make sure.Lexmark in the past included the ink cartridges in the box with the printer,and mine was no exception.
Maybe the best feature of these Lexmark printers is that the software drivers just do what they're supposed to,and you don't get redirected to a website telling you you gotta do this and buy more of that...The set up process is quick and easy,and you use minimal ink for testing and settings purposes.
With other printers I read a lot of angry complaints about the set up process and excess use of ink.
Based on my own personal experience,I would recommend this Lexmark.
I'm also biased in favor of using separate devices for scanning and printing,back in 2003 I tried an all-in-one,"do everything" machine from HP,and it was a never ending frustration.

good cheap basic printer

Having purchased entry level Lexmark inkjet printers in the past, I jumped at getting this for under $20. As mentioned in the description, no cartridges or usb cable included. I ordered remanufactured cartridges from Amazon at the same time as this printer. And since this was a replacement for a broken hp, I already have a usb printer cable.Pros: 1. ridiculously low price. 2. easy to install/setup (using windows xp).3. delivered super quick from vendor (via UPS).
Cons: 1. Don't know if this works with an os after xp. 2. long discontinued model:oem cartridges might be difficult or expensive to obtain locally. Best bet is compatible or remanufactured units via the web. Overall very pleased with this purchase.
