Lexmark E460DN Printer

Well, after owning a Hp laserjet 4P for many, many years, I decided it was time to upgrade. Besides, I out grew that printer and wanted to move up get a duplex/network printer. I looked at all major printers for months. It finally came down to Hp and Lexmark. I've have problems with Hp's non support of drivers for Vista®, drivers. Technical support is also an issue and their quality just isn't there anymore. A company I once worked for had many Lexmark printers that stayed on 24-7 for years. They really had little problems. The research that I did indicated that Lexmark's quality and support is excellent so I chose the Lexmark E460DN.
The printer arrived via UPS® as expected. I unpacked the printer but allowed it to sit and stabilize for a couple of hours (this is always a good idea with electronic equipment) before applying power. After setup & configuration, I began to run it through its paces. One of the first jobs I ran was a manual script with 375 pages, printing both sides. The job was completed in minutes with with excellent quality. What a work horse!
The print is fast, quiet easy to use and logical, with menus easy to follow. It is well made and management can be performed from the front panel or via web access. I used both, mostly the web. Duplex worked great also. I am very please at my choice. This printer is excellent for individual and group printing. Lexmark quality is built in.

Don't spend extra, get this one for your office.

We made the mistake of buying the T650 for another person in our office. This does at least as good of a job, and is about half the money (at least it was half the money after shopping around.) It doesn't take up as much room, it's quick, and the print quality is very good. Very good for your small office or home office.

I use this printer for business, so it is used quite a bit. I have had it for about a year. This printer only prints black. I use it for my black and white printing. If you need to print color, fax, scan or copy, you should find a different printer. I love this printer!
Print Quality:
The print quality is consistently excellent, never any blotches like other printers. The draft quality is just a little lighter, so it is quite readable, but not good enough for copying, scanning or faxing. Draft is perfect for documents including high volume jobs that don't need to be faxed, scanned or copied.
Cost: The 1st cartridge lasted a long time, probably at least 6 months. At the time this printer was noted to be the lowest cost per page in the market. Draft mode allows the toner cartridge to last even longer. Double sided printing cuts my paper costs in half and saves time as I don't have to buy paper as often. The 2nd cartridge I bought for this printer was $180 but it is an extremely high volume cartridge that has an even lower print cost per page. If you don't do a lot of printing, the higher volume cartridge might not be a good choice for you as it may last too long and dry out before all of the toner is used.
Convenience: It has been more convenient for me than other printers as I don't have to order toner every month since a cartridge lasts a long time. It only uses one toner cartridge, so that is easier than 5 cartridges. It has also been trouble free, so I have not had to call Lexmark for help at all!
Problems: The only problem was when I cancelled a large print job. It would not stop and ended up printing out a few reams of paper. So if you print something by mistake, just let it finish.
