Oustanding MFP Color LASER for a great price
By Starchecker
OK I have to brag, had a friend at Dell give me a 17% off discount when I ordered my computer system. Then he emails me a 30% off coupon for a printer and asked if I needed one. Wasn't planning on getting a printer, but with that discount I had to see what was available. When I saw the 30% was ADDED to the 17% system discount I had to jump on it. Bottomline it cost me $380! LOL
It's pretty new but I managed to find one review to make sure it was good before I bought it. Am I Glad I did. Just found another review at MacWorld that placed it second to the $800 Xerox, basically because the Xerox is more quiet.
Even at the regular price of $650 it's a great buy. Manufacturers are notorious for BS on their print speeds, but this thing smokes! It's very close to the 23 ppm advertised speed, but what's really amazing is how quick it spits out the first page.
The important part, flash and features aside, the print quality on black and white text is amazing, incredibly sharp. The color is good, but on some photos I think the output needs to be calibrated, makes some images a little reddish.
Love most of the features, it's nice to be able to scan pages right to your computer as a pdf file to easily email.
The ONLY donwside I have with this computer which was a disappointment is that I couldn't set it up to email a scanned image directly from the printer. For some dumb reason the software to set it up to email docs asks for the primary smtp gateway address, but only accepts a numerical address instead of textual(like you would enter with outlook) so bottomline I spoke with 4 different Dell techs and none of them could make it so it could email via my qwest account's smtp server. So that is a feature I would have liked, but unless Dell comes up with a fix I won't be able to. That being said I can scan to my computer and then attach doc to email, but an unnecessary extra step.
As for noise, it's a little loud when in action, but I think that's typical for color lasers and not any louder than some HP's I have tested in stores.
Copy speeds are great and images are very close to originals. Scanned images look great as well.
If you are tired of slow and expensive to use color ink jet mfp's, take the step up to laser with this great offering by Dell, you won't be disappointed!

Why doesn't everyone have one?
By Wilton
I'm a computer professional running a small business. I've had this printer for about a year now, and have run several thousand sheets of paper through it. It is hard to see why anyone would look elsewhere for a printer.
There are four models 2150 is printer only, 2155 includes scanner. cn is single sided, cdn includes duplexer. This is about my 2155cdn, but should apply to others. The printer is fast. It is high quality. It is designed for heavy use. The duplexer makes double sided printing a breeze. Toner replacements are a bit costly, but last a long time, so aren't really expensive. Each color is individually replaceable. The quality is good enough that we print our Christmas letter on it, which is mostly photos. No, it's not competition for a true photo quality printer on glossy paper, but its close enough to be tempting, and stands up to abuse (such as water) much better. I rarely turn on my photo printer any more. Scanning and FAXing are simple and work well. Network access works well. And the price--its incredible to get all of this for under $500!
What could be improved? I'd love to have 11 inch width so I could print B size documents, but that is a niche market and because of low volume would probably quadruple the price. The single sheet feeder is a bit touchy. I run normal consumer checks through it and they sometimes feed a bit crooked, but that is a demanding application. My HP4P did better at it. I mean it would be nice to have a size E drafting printer with full photo quality tnat cost nothing, but getting back to reality I'm very pleased with this printer. For my needs I wouldn't consider anything else at even twice the cost. It's nice to report on something that was well made.

Dell 2155cn: The BEST Ever...No question!
By Detetco
We ordered this item from Amazon with a quick delivery and have used this printer for three months now and we all agree that THIS IS THE BEST SMALL OFFICE/HOME PRINTER EVER...that's right...EVER! If you have had it with the unreliability of ink jets, and the price of ink, and finding that it is less expensive to buy a whole new inkjet printer than to buy just the multiple ink cartridges, and the pain of finding that if you try to conserve and not use the ink jet ink then it dries out and is lost any way, and running to the store every week or two when you are out of ink because then ink jets don't hold squat in amount...then...stop the aggravation and buy the Dell 2155cn.
You will wonder why you didn't make this move a long time ago! This printer is super reliable, faster than any of our previous ink jets, makes perfect copies, easy scans, and a myriad of other functions. We have printed a thousand pages and can't tell that any of the laser ink cartridge has been used!
A couple of minor issues you need to know on the downside:
1) It is huge by normal printer standards and weighs a ton. Have a large space to put it and someone without a hernia to carry it to that spot. On the upside, no one is going to pick it up and run out the door with it either!
2) Be aware that the printer does NOT come with a wireless adapter/card built in so that you can hook up other computers wirelessly. It only has the "capability" to do this. This requres an accessory that you can buy thru Dell for $99. It is well worth the price. We hooked up four computer wirelessly, including two Macs, to this printer and it works great.
3) Any review of the wireless adapter set up that says it is quick and easy to accomplish is pure fantasy. Make it easy on yourself and as soon as you get the computer turned on and your wireless adpater in your hand, call the Dell support hotline...tollfree...24/7. They will take over each of your computers (each one needs to be configured separately) and do the whole set up for you...and it will still take about an hour. Get a cup of coffee and let Dell do the work!
If you are on the fence about what type of printer to purchase and which company to go with...stop...get the DELL 2155cn!
