Great product for business on the go

For my small mobile tire business, this printer is outstanding. I didn't want to worry about dried up ink jet printers and I certainly didn't want some huge power hungry laser printer in the small space my box van provides. So far i've printed 70 invoices for customers on the spot and they're very impressed with the results and that i'm able to print an invoice out of my van. My setup consists of an HTC thunderbolt android smartphone, a microsoft 6000 bluetooth keyboard to make typing descriptions fast, the mobilebiz app for invoicing, a hard wired kit for this printer, and the printershare app which makes printing to bluetooth printers possible through your phone. I ordered the precut thermal sheets to make it look more professional. Feeding the printer the precut sheets takes a bit of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it it'll pull it in straight everytime. I would say transmitting the document takes 10 seconds or so, and printing a full page invoice takes roughly half the time. I sort of went into detail on my setup because in talking to brother directly, they really didnt' provide concrete info as to whether or not this bluetooth printer would work with an android phone. Searches on the internet provided almost no information, but enough for me to find out about the printershare app that makes it possible.

Just a side note, regarding the bluetooth keyboard, I had to root and install a different ROM on my phone to make it work. Turns out my HTC (maybe all android phones, but I don't know) dont have a complete bluetooth stack, and are unable to communicate with a bluetooth keyboard. The custom ROM allowed everything to work perfectly, i'm using thundershed 1.3.

I purchesed this item, without reading the other reviews... and I payed the price.

This item sucks. The printer comes with nothing. That's it, Nothing. No cables, no CD with software to use your cool new printer, NOT EVEN A USER MANUAL.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS. GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE. Spare yourself from having to file a claim, and going through all the stuff I'm going to have to go through to get my money back. Or at least to get my order fixed.

If it does get fixed, I'll update my rating accordingly.

Great Mobile Printer

This is a fantastic little piece of kit. It's reliable and incredibly small. I print using my netbook and everything couldn't be easier. The paper's stored inside in a little roll which means I don't have to carry it about. It's a thermal printer which means you don't need any kind of ink or toner. So basically overtime it's much much cheaper because (according to wiki) there are heat diodes which color the paper without needing any ink or replacement.

It's great for business work - it's not a color printer so be careful of that, and although it's Dpi is only 300 (which is tiny compared to other modern printers) that's because it uses thermal diodes - 300 dpi is completely fine and I would hazard a guess that only some kind of professional photographer would be able to readily tell the difference.

Great for on the spot receipts, invoices and all the kind of stuff.

Nice MFP color laser printer

I did not buy this printer from amazon. I got one from local OfficeMax for $449.95. Great deal. I had a MFP Brother laser printer for 6 years. It has been serving me well. But it is a black and white printer. I thought I could wait for couple more years for the color printers to mature enough with real life quality and their prices to come down, but lately I have often found myself in the need to print color printout for my son school work. So I went shopping. I had decided to buy one made by Brother. But eventually I settled on this one after comparing them.

First off, it is a great looking printer. Good quality looking. A bit heavy though. With high memory size, good for a small office use. The print out quality is great, even better than the one in my work place, which is an enterprise edition. I did not really expect to see such high color quality - very sharp and no distortion. I tried it with some of my high resolution photos taken with my Canon EOS D20 Digital SLR. Even on plain regular paper, they look absolutely great. It is amazing to see how fast technology advances these days - a home version can beat a enterprise edition that is just couple years old. I also tried copy and scan functions. They work flawless. I especially like the scan to email feature, which allows me to scan a paper and send it to me in an email as a PDF attachment. You can also scan it to a shared folder on the network or a USB drive (there is a USB drive on the front panel). There are two types of feeders for copy & scan on the top, one of them is a flat top, which is must if you need to copy/scan hard copy like your drivers license. My old Brother does not have this and thus was only able to take paper, which often forced me to go to a store or my work place if I need to copy/scan cards. At the bottom, there are two paper feeders, the lower one is a tray (can hold a ream of 500 sheets) and the middle one is folded behind the front panel. So you will need to pull down the front panel if you want to use the second feeder, which allows you to use envelops (roughly 50 of them max) or regular A4 paper of approximately 200 sheets at max.

There are three ways you can connect to the print, wireless, usb, and ethernet. I use wireless, it is just so convenient. I can move the printer around and just simply plug in the power cord and it is there at your service right away.

The printer working noise is acceptable. Its printing speed is good. Also within it, there is a small computer running with a web interface to which you can access and change the printer settings through a browser. On the web interface, there is a tab called "smartInstall", which really does what it promises. The install is a breeze. For my iPad, I did not even have to download/install anything - it just finds it and is able to print out photos on it.

It is like iPhone, you can also download and run apps on it! Not sure if I am able to use that function but it goes to see nowadays how fast the digital devices have become smarter and smarter. You can download some news over the web and print it out.

So far, I am extremely satisfied.

Great Printer

Good printer for home office. Really like the easy setup and that the scanner has TWAIN drivers and will scan directly into the PDF filer software I use. The print speed is not the fastest timed it on 55 pages of letter size text from the time I clicked print till completed was 5 minutes 22 sec this included the time it took to clean. Just printed a 160 pages it stopped to clean several times. Have used it for a month and had no issues. Really like the Air-print option works great from my ipad. This model doesn't have duplexing if having to turn pages over by hand bothers you better go with the 475.

Great Printer for the price!

Nice printer for only around 60$ (Target) . Prints relativley high lab-quality prints in about 50 Seconds per print. It's not bulky at all and fits great on the corner of my desk without interfering with anything. The refill packs are a great price as well. 40 prints for about 15$ and 160 for 55$ and that includes everything, cartridge and paper. Great little printer for 60$ , I'd recomend it to anyone.

Totally unreliable, Kodak support not good enough

Going against good sense after reading consumer reviews of Kodak PP300, I still took the plunge and bought one because it was indeed inexpensive. The pros ended with the price of the printer. After loading the sampler cartridge and switching the printer on, the film tore. After replacing it with a 40-sheet film cartridge, it started printing the first sheet but the film tore as it applied the laminate. I replaced the film cartridge with another 40-sheet cartridge, this time after 5 printouts, the film tore again. I contacted Kodak after the first 2 film cartridges tore and they sent me a mailer so they can "examine" the cartridges. No promise that they will replace them. After contacting them the second time regarding the third torn film cartridge, they told me to send my printer so they can "examine" it. After all the money spent and will end up spending more on this lousy product, it's just not worth sending it to Kodak to get a refurbished one, then spend more money on supplies which you'll end up not being able to use simply because the quality is so poor and unreliable. Stay away from this printer if you have better sense than I had.
