Excellent printer
By The Buyer
I have had this Hp Deskjet 970 CSE since March 2000 and never but never I have had any kind of problem with it, I have printed many document, photos, blacl & white or full color and they still look beautiful and shinning.

Not working - bad investment
By Gramma
So far I have been totally disappointed in this product. The printer worked long enough to print out a less than good test page but made a lot of noise during the process and it has not printed another page since. When I contacted the seller, Delnero Computer Sales, David assured me on January 24 that I could get a replacement for the broken printer I received but because I was going on vacation I requested they wait to send it after I got back on Feb 6. I've been home since Feb 6 and have not heard anything further as to if or when they sent the replacement printer and I am still waiting as of today, Feb 12, 2012. I had one just like it that lasted for several years so I know what it is capable of doing if I could just get one that works.

Slow and labor intensive but worth it.
By S. Power
This printer is the slowest I've ever owned. It also requires 10 separate ink cartridges that don't seem to require replacement at the same time, resulting in constant maintenance. Now that those two complaints are out of the way, I'll also say that this printer makes the best prints that I've ever seen.

I've tried several different photo printer technologies over the years and this is by far the best. Do side-by-side comparisons against any other type of photo printer and this Pixma printer will win every time.

Another reviewer complained about cartridge availability. I haven't had that problem. I haven't checked any local stores, but Amazon carries the cartridges for this printer and they are reasonably priced (although I wish the ink would last longer in them).

If you are looking for a photo printer with great grays, great color matching, and overall great results, than you won't be disappointed in Canon on this one.

One of the good ones!
By Gary D. Ryno
The HP 890c Printer is a hard act to follow. Although a little long in tooth as far as age is concerned, this printer is a warhorse from hell. In my work, both as a police officer and engineer, I have used mine probably a lot more than most. I'd like to have a dollar for every page that has been thru my old 890. The other great thing is that ink supplies are readily available thru numerous sources. I have used my printer on the WinOS, OS2, and Linux without so much as a hint of a problem. These printers are starting to get old, but there's still a lot of fight left in them!

Very handy for making quick prints!
By H. Scott
I love this little HP printer! It's user friendly and the quality of the prints is awesome.... I can barely distinguish my "home" prints from the ones I order online and pick up at the drugstore. I've also used it to print very professional looking invites and photo greeting cards. I'd give it 5 stars, but you can only feed in one sheet of paper at a time.....the feeder holds lots of paper, but when you try, the printer grabs them all at once. Also, the ink is on the expensive side. Word of advice: Go ahead and splurge on the premium glossy photo paper and you won't go wrong.

the printer has several options for media cards, which is great. I was really looking for a printer for my card from my Kodak camera, but that slot won't read any cards.

For Mom without computer
By Steven Morrison
I purchased this for my Mother who has a digital camera but does not have a computer. I know that seems strange but she still uses 110 film. This was a replacement for an earlier version that she "used to death". She like the other model and loves this one. Greatest pro is that user does not need a computer to use it.

The worst printer in the world.
By A. Steckel
This is the worst printer I have ever seen, met, read about, or heard tell of. Nothing about it seems to work. The pages constantly misfeed, as if some mysterious force is actually preventing ANY of them from going in straight. And you know how some printers will occasionally grab 2 or 3 pages at once? Yesterday mine grabbed 9 pages, in a scattered sort of way so that I got a little bit of my document on all 9 pages. Who knows, maybe it thought I wanted a fun little puzzle.

The overall image quality is horrid; and occasionally, it will refuse to draw ink from a cartridge even when I KNOW the cartridge is full. The reason I know this is because I've tried multiple cartridges; but more telling is the fact that when it "gets thirsty" it will start to draw ink again.

I give this printer an A+ for personality; not because I think it's stylish, but because it's really like owning a finicky cat, or a wounded dog. In fact, it does so little printing that I sometimes forget it's actually a printer. Never a dull moment.

But for speed, reliability, and quality, it gets an F, an F, and another F - as in ZERO PERCENT. And it comes as no shock me at all that you can buy it here on Amazon for less than the cost of a Skim Latte Grande at Starbucks.

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW
By V. Cummings
This printer is the slowest printer I have ever had, my inkjet printer from 1993 is faster than this one! I don't know what the deal is with this printer! The quality is something to be desired too - it did not do to well a printing a "PHOTO QUALITY" print! Spend the extra money and trade up to the all in one printer by Dell!

If you have to cheap out this is the way to go!
By Crystal Gillis
I got this because, I just can't have everything in life, and it is obviously the most affordable out there. I found so many bad reviews but took the chance and am GLAD I DID. You will find complaints about the price of cartridges, but you will also find there are more and more (professional) ink refill stores popping up everywhere. I pay $14.99 for a black ink refill and $16.99 for color. The ink is not "universal" junk and the service takes just 10 minutes, is guaranteed and is just as good as the real thing. The printer is compatible with most computers/operating systems (just make sure). The photo quality is not the best but good for the money, you do have to specify what you are printing and what type of paper and use the best quality print job to get good results. I am picky but frugal and I think for the price, you will be satisfied. FOUR STARS FOR THE PRICE!

My Great (Old) Printer!
By Doctor Dan
Almost everyone who writes reviews on amazon.com will write about some NEW item that they've recently bought. Since I ONLY write about things that I actually own and use, and have genuine 'merit',I'm usually at the 'tail end' of things. But my 'reviews' are based on my real-life experience(s). Here's a case in point - my trusty HP Deskjet 895cxi inkjet printer - six years later.

I actually bought an HP 842 inkjet printer back in '03 and only noticed a pallet of HP895cxi printers on my way out the door of the store. They were about $40 more than what I had paid for the 842 but looked more robust and the boxes were labelled 'Professional Series' and 'suitable for small workgroups'. I thought about that (and the fact that it had a more robust internal mechanism)and didn't open the 842's box at all. Instead, I returned the unopened 842 and paid the extra $40 for this printer. What a WONDERFUL decision!

It's been a terrific printer over the past six years! It's built the way I wish things were still made - it's a "tank" with long-lasting virtues. Thousands of prints later I still enjoy its really quiet and smooth operation, its reliability, and the economy of much larger ink cartridges than newer models use these days. Coupled with HP's inks and HP's papers I have had YEARS of total satisfaction with my printing on everything from 20 pound 'everyday' HP papers up to much heavier 'index' stock, even with the U-shaped paper path typical of most HP printers of its time. And that U-shaped paper path makes for a compact and convenient location on a 15" deep shelf conveniently located within 'arms-length' from my computer desk!

With many folks giving new-found attention to 'value-for-the-dollar' in the tight economy of today's markets, I'd suggest seeking out one of these(they're still around, even here on amazon.com) for a cost-effective solution to most home-based printing needs. And, I'd also strongly suggest sticking with the predictable reliability of ONLY using genuine HP inks and papers ALL the time - at least with this printer.

It doesn't have the bells and whistles of today's newer generation of printers but it's truly MY "Great Old Printer"! Highly recommended and another FIVE STAR item!!!!!

SOLID
By CL
I've had this printer for probably ten years! (Well, I have the Cse version, but not really any different). It's solid. As long as I give it some new ink every once in a while, it just keeps on going! There are probably much newer, better, faster printers out there now, but this one is a workhorse!

Workhorse printer going strong after 12 years
By Linda
I bought this printer in 1999. It has been the only printer I've used at home ever since. It rarely jams, smudges or fails in any way. My husband just took it apart and cleaned it inside. We printed a few test pages and its running just like new. Why can't everything be built as solid as as HP used to make their gear? I'm sure this will run another 10 years if HP keeps making the ink cartridges!

wasted time & money!
By Minnie
When I purchased this printer, I wasn't aware it didn't come with the ink cartridges. I thought the $19.99 price was too unbelievable. I was right! At an office supply store the ink was running for close to $100.00 for both black and colored. I wanted to return the printer but was asked to contact the supplier. The supplier offered to work out a resonable price for the ink. I was told I could get the ink from them for $10.00 plus shipping. So I agreed to do that. The shipping was more for the 2 little cartridges than for the entire printer itself. Then I found the printer could not be installed, so I called the company leaving a message. I also emailed them as well asking for help, but have never heard back from them either way. I ended up spending $40.00 for a $19.99 printer that I have no use for. I sold the printer to someone who thought they might have more success with it! Good Luck!

good for the money

This is an older model, unused and new,but older.

I had an earlier version and a newer version, all three look almost identical.
The earlier Z600 worked good for 3 years before the ink printhead(s) got clogged up,or something. The same thing happened after 3 years to my Z645...Ink gets dried out and clogs over time.

If this Z615 lasts 3 years I'll be happy. For the price,it amounts to just $13 per year,$1.08 per month...The ink will cost a lot more than that over 3 years...All the other printers received more mixed reviews,so I stuck with the devil I know.

Also,my new Z615 DID INCLUDE BOTH B&W AND COLOR INK CARTRIDGES.
Ask seller to make sure.Lexmark in the past included the ink cartridges in the box with the printer, and mine was no exception.

Maybe the best feature of these Lexmark printers is that the software drivers just do what they're supposed to,and you don't get redirected to a website telling you you gotta do this and buy more of that...The set up process is quick and easy, and you use minimal ink for testing and settings purposes.

With other printers I read a lot of angry complaints about the set up process and excess use of ink.

Based on my own personal experience,I would recommend this Lexmark.

I'm also biased in favor of using separate devices for scanning and printing, back in 2003 I tried an all-in-one,"do everything" machine from HP,and it was a never ending frustration.

good cheap basic printer
By inkster
Having purchased entry level Lexmark inkjet printers in the past, I jumped at getting this for under $20. As mentioned in the description, no cartridges or usb cable included. I ordered remanufactured cartridges from Amazon at the same time as this printer. And since this was a replacement for a broken hp, I already have a usb printer cable.Pros: 1. ridiculously low price. 2. easy to install/setup (using windows xp).3. delivered super quick from vendor (via UPS).
Cons: 1. Don't know if this works with an os after xp. 2. long discontinued model:oem cartridges might be difficult or expensive to obtain locally. Best bet is compatible or remanufactured units via the web. Overall very pleased with this purchase.
