It just works!

Sick and tired of inkjets drying up, having to constantly reboot the printer and computer to scan or print, irritated by less than satisfactory print jobs, I decided to try a different brand of multifunction printer than the last 8 I've wasted time and money on. The Brother is a little pricier than the others but, it seems I'm finally getting what I've paid for, a printer-scanner-copier (and fax that I don't use) that just works! I load a document or picture and hit scan and it scans, both sides at the same time if I want. The printing looks fabulous! Printing laser quality documents, I expected to look good, but was totally amazed at the quality of pictures, the color is wonderful and I didn't have to replace an ink cartridge after a couple of 8 X 10's. This was bought for home use, not business. I scan a lot but print only every couple of months (just enough time for inkjet cartridges to dry up). Scanning both sides of a document at the same time saves time and frustration (flipping the pages over just to rescan the same side on my old scanner). Replacement toner is going to cost more at one time but will last longer and no worries about drying up! So far, I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Great! Instr. on toner reset

Love this printer. Below you will find instructions on resetting the toner to 'full' that I copied from another brother printer's review that also work on this unit (I am not the original author). Often you can get extra life from your toner this way:
** TO RESET TONER **
This will make your printer believe it has a brand new toner. Once it says toner low, you can reset it and just print until it runs dry, instead of replacing the toner when you still have 500 prints left.
1) Get to the home screen, if you are stuck at the "Toner Low" or "Replace Toner" message, just press the red X
2) Press the FAX button on the touch screen. This is ONLY to light up the numbers so you can....
3) LOCATE and only locate, don't press, the * (asterisk) button. You know where it is now, somewhere to the right of the Red X button
4) Press the glowing home button to get home.
5) Open the top as if you were going to change the toner, but don't remove any toner
6) With the top open, press and hold the now UN-LIT * (asterisk) button for at least 5 seconds
7) While KEEPING the lid open, the toner reset menu will show on the screen
8) Reset your "low" or "empty" toner by pressing the color and type to reset, all with the lid open
9) close the lid and wait about 40 seconds per toner that was reset (ie. 80 seconds if you reset 2, 120 seconds if you reset 3)
cstd = cyan Standard, cstr = cyan starter, and one other for high yield, etc... Just reset to whatever type you have installed.

Simply Perfection!

Just purchased this one the other day for a small church. Unit is quiet, quick and as someone stated earlier, IT JUST WORKS!!! Great quick copies. Everything is concealed nicely from dust and any dirt that may try to get into it. Wireless setup was straight forward and sensible. Touchscreen is very responsive. This unit can be set to sleep mode as soon as 1 minute after printing. You can put a double sided page in the automatic duplexer on top and make a 1 to 1 copy with the touch of a finger. Oh, and did I mention that it works flawlessly with iPad, and iPod with no APP's or drivers required? Why? because this unit also has "AirPrint" built in! I tried the Canon MF4890dw previously to purchasing this one, It too is a great little machine, except that it doesn't support "AirPrint" or have a useable App to print basically anything but "Photos" and it isn't color!!! Highly recommend for anybody tired of settling for just OK printers and who really want something that will last and JUST WORK. And getting it on Amazon.com, perfect Win, Win situation. Great Customer Service and superfast shipping. My last printer I got from them was shipped Next Day Air! and I only selected the Free Supersaver Shipping!
