Useful and Reliable All-In-One Printer

My significant other and I bought the WorkForce 630 just a little more than two years ago from a local retailer for our home office. We have used it with six different PCs running various Redmond flavors from Windows XP to Windows 8, in various modes: some wired directly via USB, some wireless, and some shared over the home network through another PC. Overall, the setup in all these cases was quick and easy, particularly after the first one was under our belt.
Also, the printer setup has continued to be reliable on all the devices, and this has exceeded my expectations - being a former HP printer devotee who has paid in blood, sweat and tears to get his HP All-In-One printers to work, and keep working, over the years.
Performance has been as expected:
[a] Printing is quick enough for our moderate needs, producing nice, crisp documents and images. There is a quiet printing mode which comes in handy from time to time as well.
[b] Scanning is more common for us than printing and is more than adequate for our needs* as well, noticeably quicker and marginally better quality than my previous HP All-In-One. Colors in images all tend to look a little flat in the various available formats (e.g. jpg, tif, pdf) but we're ok with that as a tradeoff for the overall utility of the Epson.
[c] The software for printing and scanning is nothing special, but familiar to anyone who has done any printing at home, regardless of brand. Most importantly, though, is that it just works virtually every single time - as do the underlying drivers. More than I can say for many competitors' products I have tried. The ink levels notifications that the Epson provides can be turned off if you find them obtrusive, but they are helpful in avoiding a surprise outage and can also be viewed directly through the software.
[d] Lastly, supplies - with light usage (25-30 pages per month) we are just now ordering our second set of replacement ink cartridges from Amazon (the best prices I could find online today BTW). Note: we have found that using better quality, bright white paper from various vendors has helped make the most of the ink in terms of quality on the default setting, and possibly aiding in the great "mileage" we have gotten from our cartridges.
Overall, we're very happy with this unit, definitely recommend it for home / home office, and will unquestionably be looking for another Epson when the time comes for an additional, or replacement, printer. Hope this is helpful!
*Of course if you are really serious about scanning and archiving documents or photographs, especially in large volumes and requiring high quality scans, then this is not the ideal product. Note: check out Fujitsu's professional quality scanners here on Amazon as benchmarks if you need to rapidly handle scanning large amounts of documents.

Inconvenient

Two issues I found inconvenient and time consuming:
To address an envelope the paper tray must be removed and the envelope put in place in the same fashion as loading paper. My previous printers provided the convenience of simply sliding the envelope in above the paper tray.
Also, cannot scan directly to MSWord without purchasing additional software.Wish I had known that prior to purchasing this printer.
