Problems as received, quickly resolved by seller

Received printer, set up the unit, installed HP toner cartridge and printer drivers. All features worked with the exception of the #3 paper tray paper pick-up assembl,y when loaded with 11" X 17" paper. Every attempt to print 11 x 17 copies resulted in a "Paper Jam" message and the unit would shut down. I e-mailed PFC (seller) regarding the problem and they forwarded the e-mail to their tech support. The tech called with-in the hour and after running a number of tests the diagnosis was a failure of the paper pick-up assembly in the #3 paper tray unit.
PFC sent a replacement tray unit and upon installation, the issue was resolved.
I would recommend this seller; I was impressed with their methods and timely response of resolving warranty issues with their products.

A nice little workhorse. Rugged and well-designed

I bought the HP2600N with a little trepidation. The price was so low that I was afraid that there was a "catch"--that either it jammed a lot, was too slow, or had some other fault. It was not the case.

This has been a very rugged little workhorse for my light to medium duty needs. It is adequately fast at 8PPM for the needs of my home law office. I use the 2600N mainly in conjunction with wordprocessing and the reproduction of scanned documents in TIFF format. The 2600N has been a solid performer in this regards. The 16MB of on-board RAM, while not a lot, seems to be more than adequate for relatively fast printing of scanned documents and photos. HP seems to have kept the price down on this little beast by carefully engineering just how much of a feature is needed to make the overall device perform smartly. I am very pleased with the 2600N.

Incidentally, this unit is network-ready. Hard to believe for the price.

Overall, this is a solid performer that is available at an exceptionally reasonable price if one shops around a bit.

Ink RipOff

If you don't print primarily COLOR documents, DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. I purchased the HP Color Laserjet 2600n as an alternative to cheap inkjet printers which use way too much ink. I knew the cartridges were expensive ($85.00 per) but with the yield of each cartridge I thought it was worth it. I also made the assumption that because I used the printer primarily for black ink documents that my color cartridges would last a lot longer than my black cartridge...WRONG. I called HP Technical support for a minor issue. I spoke with Tania. Tania told me that this is primarily a color printer, therefore, when you print a document which only uses black ink, the printer assumes you're also using the color cartridges, so it is using up the color cartridges at the same rate. There's only one catch, when the printer tells you that you have to replace the color cartridges, most likely there is still a LOT of toner left in the cartridge. When I became incredulous, she laughed at me. Eventually I was transferred to Gali, in Customer Care. I was also on the phone at the same time with another woman but they wouldn't give me her name. They confirmed MANY TIMES exactly what Tania told me. So many times during my conversation I said "I just have such a hard time believing that I will be forced to replace FULL CARTRIDGES!" and every time there reply was something to the effect of, I understand Ma'am, but there's nothing we can do, the machine is not defective. If I were you I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRINTER.

Now, since this experience, i've learned the following; (haven't tried yet, other's have and said it works)

Here is how to solve problem;
Cartridge Out Override can only be enabled from the printer's control panel menu.
1. From the main menu, press (RIGHT ARROW) to System Setup and press (SELECT).
2. Press (RIGHT ARROW)to Print Quality and press (SELECT).
3. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Replace supplies and press (SELECT).
4. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Override Out and press (SELECT).
5. Press (SELECT).
If Stop at out is selected, the printer will stop printing when a cartridge reaches the recommended replacement point. If Override out is selected, the printer will continue printing when a cartridge reaches the recommended replacement point. The factory default setting is Stop at out.

I have to say, I got this remedy on another website. I spent over an hour on the phone with HP and they did not give me this solution. They did give me an override solution that they told me would stop working after 2 weeks. (not sure what that was all about)

It's a shame that HP can't just charge what the printers are worth and let us pay for the toner that we USE.

Nice , But

well i guess this review if based on the printer and the ink . they are great as far as color is concerned .but they run out pretty fast and they are very expensive. we use them for business. we print mostly black and white and rarely use color. but the color somehow runs out as if it mixes in with the black . we were not able to use the printer after the magenta ran out , when we put the magenta in it informed us that all the other colors ( not the black, since we replaced it a week before ) were out and we could not use the printer till we replaced them all .. somehow i think its a scam with hp , but im not an expert on manufacturing ..

I'm now a believer...

When I think of inkjet printers... I normally think Canon or HP. My year old $30 Canon multifunction inkjet recently went "south" on me thanks to some super cheap "no name" refill ink clogging the head, so it was time to shop. I found the Brother J835DW on sale for a great price locally and read many excellent reviews from buyers, so I gave it a shot. I really don't associate printers with the Brother name... but now I'm a true believer! Setup was super easy and went exactly as the instructions indicated. Everything works perfectly via wireless and print quality is outstanding. The duplex print function is awesome to say the least. I always wanted an auto duplex printer, but never thought I'd find one for well under $100.

What really sold me on this printer is the relatively cheap ink cost. The J835DW uses 4 separate carts and when one runs low, you just replace it independently. You don't find this type of setup on many sub $100 printers. Also, these carts generally cost $15 or less at all the major retailers and each cart yields around 300 pages at 5% coverage. Very affordable compared to most other brands.

Another "plus" is that these printers do not use sophisticated cart chips or ink monitoring systems to discourage refill attempts. Refill carts are dirt cheap and the printhead is very forgiving running aftermarket ink... unlike Canon and HP. I just bought 10 high capacity refill carts for $10 shipped via a major online retailer. I am stocked on ink for years to come!

This printer is just an overall awesome deal especially when found on sale for under $100. Definitely don't let the Brother name scare you. They know what they are doing.

Excellent printer

I have just received and installed this printer. I have had Epsons, and HP printers. My latest HP had a paper jam, and would not recover.

This unit is attractive, runs quietly, and was simple to install. I am using the wireless connection. For best results, download the latest driver and utility support package. It was more thorough than my install CD. With the CD, I did not have the PC-Fax working. With the download, everything went well.

This unit has so many features. It is impressive. I am using it as a home printer, but it is obviously capable of a serving a small business application. The duplex printing feature is great.

The front load ink cartridges are very easy to install, and you can buy replacement ones instead of OEM.

Brother also has a Brother Creative Center online, for creating holiday cards, etc. It works well. I used it to make a Halloween card to test the printer out. (If you make a foldable card, remember to set the printer for two sided printing.)

Hopefully this printer will last much longer than my last HP.

AMAZING, GREAT QUALITY, DOES EVERYTHING!

By far the best all in one printer out there and for the best price right here on amazon. It prints fast, and you can choose the quality every time when printing. If normal quality it takes about 10 seconds to print a page. If on best it takes about 15 to 20 seconds per page. In general that is really good for the amazing quality. The WiFi is my favorite feature. I can print from anywhere. I have tried all the features, faxing, scanning, printing, coping, they all work wonderful. The scanning shows up right on your computer. It also has black, magenta, yellow and blue ink cartridges and you can replace them individually rather than having to but a whole new color cartridge if you even though you may only need one color. That is extremely cost effective. Plus, I found a great deal for tons of ink cartridges. Screen print shop owner -- Very pleased

We own a silk screen printing business and demand quality and accuracy. This printer (HP LJ 5200) fits the bill. The 5200 is one fast puppy! Toner displacement is good (heavy and very black) which is great for printing both positives and negatives. Nice sized paper tray holds 250+ sheets & is capable of large format printing (14"x17"). Overall, with the machine I have no complaints.

Cons: Very heavy - 45 lbs
Quick setup instructions is vague
Users manual is on CD only
Tech support is in Costa Rica - very helpful but difficult for this Gringo to understand!

Over all we are very satisfied and hope to get many years use from this purchase.

Outstanding Laser Printer For 11X17 Card Stock

I received my HP 5200 yesterday, and with a bit of labor (It is a very heavy printer) placed it into my home office area. The printed documentation is sparse, so you'll need to browse the PDF manual located on the CD. I quickly found what I needed: how to set the output to Pro Resolution, the highest, and how to insert large 11"X17" paper stock; the 5200 has a front manual load tray above the enclosed bottom paper tray. Within minutes I had installed the drivers and hooked up the machine, opened a file in Adobe Illustrator I had designed especially for 11X17, and selected the 5200 in the Printer Menu. I hit Print, and ZIP!, less than a second later the full 11X17 flew out of the 5200! And the print is incredible; the text was exceptionally crisp and the black art image was super rich and extremely sharp. Exactly what I was hoping for, and expecting for what I paid.

As an illustrator I plan on using this printer to set up graphic novel pages of text, art and frames, which I'll then print out to pencil on and ink final art. Then I'll scan on my Epson GT 15000 11X17 for publishing. HP says to expect printing of 10,000 pages on a single toner cartridge, but I expect less using 11X17 Bristol card stock. That's still a lot of printing from one cartridge. I highly recommend this product if you are creating graphic art or architectural projects.

Bad Luck, Bad Printer

As luck would have it. I purchased this printer and was only able to get 40 prints from it before the internal cpu for the printer died.

The repair and return policies from HP were not a satisfactory solution for the dollar amount of this purchase. HP's offered solution was to send out a refurbished unit to replace my new unit with me paying half the cost of shipping. That sure makes the 40 prints I got from the original unit pretty pricey not to mention I would be the proud owner of a refurbished unit that I have no idea where it has been. The other option I have been given is to wait for several weeks for a repair center to get the part needed and repair the unit. In the mean time I have no printer to achieve the goal this printer was purchased for.

The falty printer and the non-acceptable return policy of HP makes this purchase a risky buy. Consider your options on alternative products before commiting on this one.

I am in some kind of eternal "call you back" loop with HP if any acceptable solution is offered I will be back to append my comments.
